Represented by Mr. Mamadou KOUTOU, Senior Programme Officer, the office took part to the Regional Sustainable Land Management and Landscape Approaches: Collecting Data and Information to Generating and Managing Knowledge, 13-16 September 2016, Mbabane, Swaziland
The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD Agency), with the support of partners such as the Global Environment Fund (GEF), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is implementing the Strategic Investment Program (SIP) for Sustainable Land Management (SLM) entitled: “Institutional Support to NEPAD and RECs for Sustainable Land Management (SLM) Scale-up in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA)” within the TerrAfrica Partnership shared vision to scale-up implementation of SLM activities.
AU-SAFGRAD as a technical office of AUC was represented by Mr Koutou Mamadou, Program and Research Officer. He presented the office activities in relation to SLWM in Africa. Along with other technical partners SAFGRAD took opportunity to present outcomes of a recent study on the role and science and technology in combating Desertification in Africa.
Participants showed interested in the findings of the study and suggestions were made to share the conclusions with RECs and relevant stakeholders at regional level.
