25 MAY 1963 – 25 MAY 2021. THE WORLD AFRICA DAY WILL BE CELEBRATED JOINTLY BY AFRICAN UNION OFFICES IN OUAGADOUGOU (BURKINA FASO), ECOWAS AND THE GOVERNMENT OF BURKINA FASO
Several activities are planned in the program. Among these activities we can note the official opening ceremony to be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the respective speeches of the Representative of ECOWAS, that of Dr Ahmed ELMEKASS, delivering the statement of the President of the AU Commission, and finally that of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso.
This official ceremony will be immediately followed by a high-level panel on the theme of the year, namely: “Contribution of the arts, culture and heritage to the integration of societies and to the socio-economic development of Africa. “. This panel, organized around three sub-themes will be led by eminent personalities including Prof. Salaka SANOU, Specialist in cultural issues, Ms. Fontyama Elise ILBOUDO / THIOMBIANO, Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism and Dr. Rita Bissoonauth , Coordinator of UA / CIEFFA. Moderation will be provided by Ambassador Léopold BONKOUNGOU.
Note that as part of this joint celebration, another panel on “the major challenges of ECOWAS” is scheduled for May 28, the anniversary of the creation of this Regional Economic Community.
Other sports activities or blood donations are also planned as part of these joint celebrations. Other parts of the country will also receive activities on the program. This is mainly the case for the city of Bobo-Dioulasso where events are scheduled for June.
